Memorial Day Holiday

My husband got the long Memorial Day weekend off.  We met the kids in Cincinnati, OH and went to King’s Island on Sunday.  We drove back to Kentucky on Monday.

In the mid 90s when I was putting the weight on rapidly, I could barely get in the seats for the rides at King’s Island.  This time, I had no problems and even had room to spare when I went through the turnstiles.  You wouldn’t believe the thrill I got when I could fasten the seatbelts on the rides without sucking my belly in.  WhooHooo!  It felt great.

On the drive back my husband wanted to stop at the Natural Bridge in Slade, KY.  Instead of taking the sky lift we hiked up the mountain to the bridge using the easiest trail.  We went back to the parking area using one of the roughest trails (in my opinion).  I’m sure glad we didn’t try to ascend it.  It was so steep they had several flights of stairs for hikers to use.

We ended up hiking a little over two miles.  By the time we were nearly to the bottom of the mountain, the muscles in my poor legs were quivering.  Those muscles hadn’t done that kind of work in a very long time.  They are still protesting.

I was surprised that I could even do the hike.  I wouldn’t have been able to do it a year ago.  Losing this weight has been one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.
